Lincoln Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Lincoln, a pensioner named Peter Briggs has been sentenced to two and a half years in prison for his involvement in a series of indecent photographs taken of underage girls. The court proceedings revealed that Briggs, aged 78 and residing on Portland Street in Lincoln, had engaged in photographing young girls during what were described as 'modelling sessions,' which were ultimately used to exploit the victims sexually.

According to the Lincoln Crown Court, Briggs admitted to charges of taking indecent photographs of four girls under the age of 18, with the incidents spanning from 2003 to 2011. The photographs included images of the girls in various states of undress, with some being topless and others in more explicit poses. The court heard that these images were captured after the girls were persuaded to pose for the camera, often under false pretenses or through manipulation.

Further complicating the case was the involvement of another man, Trevor William Budworth, who was described as the central figure behind the entire operation. Budworth, aged 77 and based in Alford, operated a modelling agency and was the primary recruiter of the victims. He approached young girls, claiming they had potential as models, and used his agency as a cover for his illicit activities. Tragically, Budworth fell ill and passed away before he could stand trial, leaving his charges unresolved.

Another individual implicated in the case was Peter Marriott, aged 75, of Moorland Close in Carlton le Moorland. Marriott was found to have allowed his home to be used as a location for the photo shoots. He pleaded guilty to inciting a child to participate in pornography and was sentenced to 12 months in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to register as a sex offender for ten years.

The prosecution, led by Catarina Sjolin, detailed how Budworth had approached girls by presenting himself as a modelling agent. He would tell them they looked attractive and could become models, then introduce them to Briggs, who acted as the photographer, and Marriott, who facilitated the sessions at his home. The first victim was a 15-year-old girl who contacted Budworth after finding his number in the Yellow Pages. She traveled to Lincoln, where Briggs photographed her fully clothed for a portfolio. Subsequently, she returned with a friend, also aged 15, who was offered up to £100 to pose topless.

The friend continued to visit Briggs over a period of three years, posing for both topless and nude photographs. She was later devastated to discover that some of her images had been published in the 'readers’ wives' section of a men's magazine, causing her significant emotional distress. Another girl, described as vulnerable, was introduced to Budworth by a 19-year-old friend who suggested she could earn money by posing. Both girls were reportedly given alcohol and underwear before being photographed in increasingly explicit and pornographic poses.

Further allegations involved a young girl who was approached by Budworth and initially agreed to model. However, she was subsequently ordered to perform naked and pornographic acts. She was taken to Marriott’s home, where she was asked to pose with an older woman in bondage-themed photographs. The case highlighted the extent of exploitation and manipulation involved in these activities.

Defense attorney Terry Boston argued that Budworth saw himself as a businessman promoting talented young girls and claimed that Briggs was merely a photographer who did not recruit the victims himself. He emphasized that neither man had previous convictions and that both had pleaded guilty, expressing remorse for their actions. Mr. Boston stated, “They are tremendously upset about what has happened and sincerely apologise.”
