CLACTON MAN PERRY RACE JAILED FOR DOMESTIC ABUSE AND ASSAULT
A man named Perry Race, aged 31, who has a history of abusive behavior towards his former partners, has been sentenced to prison after a series of aggressive and controlling acts against women.
His abusive conduct included using his vehicle as a weapon, chasing a former partner while she was on her morning school run with her children, and ramming her car.
During the chase, Race rammed the back of her vehicle, which was just one example of his dangerous and abusive behavior following the end of their relationship in September 2018.
Court proceedings revealed that Race would monitor his ex-partner by sitting across from her home, sending her threatening texts, and smashing her car windscreen.
His violent actions escalated when he forced his way into her home shortly after her friend had left, pushing her into a stair gate and punching her in the face, leaving her terrified.
Race also harassed another partner in June of the previous year, threatening and assaulting her during an argument, which involved smashing her phone and throwing a piece of wood at her, causing a scratch and ripping her shorts.
Race admitted to multiple charges including assault occasioning actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, theft, criminal damage, and assault by beating.
The court heard that Race struggled with substance misuse, which contributed to his paranoia and mistrust.
Judge Mary Loram QC described Race as a domestic abuser who had harmed four different women, noting his aggressive, possessive, and controlling behavior.
Race was sentenced to 27 months in prison and was issued a restraining order banning contact with both women for ten years.
