EX-POLICE OFFICER ESCAPES JAIL AFTER HORRIFIC DOMESTIC ABUSE
A former Metropolitan Police firearms officer Pere Daobry, aged 43, was convicted of assault at Colchester magistrates’ court. He was sentenced to a 12-week jail term suspended for a year and received a restraining order.
Daobry engaged in a pattern of violent and abusive behavior towards his wife, Sarah Jay, 42, including physical assault and choking her to the point of unconsciousness.
The abuse started after Sarah left her police career and worsened over time, involving mental control, intimidation, and violence.
Notable incidents include him throttling her during an argument, nearly killing her, and physically attacking her in various episodes.
Sarah described her ordeal as terrifying and life-threatening, noting she was seconds from death.
After the attack, she managed to escape through a window and was hospitalized with injuries.
Despite his violent history, Daobry avoided prison, escaping with only a suspended sentence.
Sarah expressed her dismay, stating "He nearly killed me.
All he has got is a slap on the wrists.
He is free to do it all over again.
What deterrent is that for other men?" Sarah, a former police sergeant from Essex, hopes her story will encourage other women to seek help, emphasizing that "if you’re a victim, don’t try to deal with it on your own." Daobry currently works as a security consultant and lives in London, but has not seen Sarah since the attack.
