Miles Platting Sexual Abuser
In January 2021, a disturbing case unfolded involving Payam Fatehy, a 22-year-old man from Miles Platting, who was convicted of serious sexual offences against a young girl. The incident came to light after Fatehy engaged in a series of inappropriate online communications with a 13-year-old girl, which ultimately led to his arrest and subsequent imprisonment.

According to court proceedings, Fatehy initially established contact with the girl through social media platforms, beginning with Instagram where he 'liked' her pictures. The court heard that he then encouraged her to move their conversations to Snapchat, claiming to be 18 years old at the time. As their online interaction progressed, Fatehy began making sexual requests, asking her to touch his private parts and suggesting they meet in Manchester for sexual activity. He even proposed that she could bring friends along, and he would do the same.

The court was informed that Fatehy asked the girl to send him indecent images of herself, but she refused. Despite her refusal, in July 2017, Fatehy sent her a graphic image of his penis along with a video of himself performing a sex act. During this exchange, he explicitly stated, 'I want you, I don’t want anybody else,' and 'I want to f**k you, no one else,' revealing his intentions and the nature of their communication.

The young girl, distressed by the messages, confided in her mother, revealing that she had told Fatehy her age—13—approximately ten times during their conversations. She described how Fatehy persistently asked her to touch him and to engage in sexual activity, even suggesting they meet in Manchester to go to his flat, where he claimed he would bring friends.

Concerned for her safety, her mother took action by messaging Fatehy from her daughter’s phone, capturing screenshots of their exchanges, and then reporting the matter to the police. Fatehy was arrested in November 2017. During police interviews, he initially claimed that his phone had been stolen by a gang, asserting that they must have sent the messages from his iPhone. However, this claim was dismissed by Judge John Potter, who described it as a 'pack of lies.'

Further investigation revealed that Fatehy possessed a disturbing video depicting the sexual abuse of two children aged between four and six. The court learned that he had asked a friend to send him this illegal content, requesting 'send me the kids one,' and had forwarded it to another male contact. Police found this material on his WhatsApp account, along with other incriminating evidence.

Judge Potter emphasized the severity of Fatehy’s actions, stating that only an immediate custodial sentence was appropriate given the gravity of the offences. He highlighted that the victim was only 13 years old at the time, and Fatehy, who was 19, had used social media platforms like Snapchat and Instagram to communicate with her with the apparent intent of sexually abusing her for his own gratification. The judge condemned Fatehy for using the young girl as an object to satisfy his perverted desires, noting the clear breach of trust and the exploitation involved.

Fatehy pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including distributing an indecent image of a category B nature, engaging in sexual communication with a child, and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. As a result, he was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, required to sign the sex offenders register for ten years, and was granted a restraining order to prevent any further contact with the victim.

This case underscores the dangers of online grooming and the importance of vigilance when children communicate on social media platforms, especially in cases involving predators like Payam Fatehy from Miles Platting.
