PAUL SILVERTHORN AND THE SHOCKING CHILD SEX RING IN LONDON AND IBIZA

A notorious sex gang leader, Paul Silverthorn, who preyed on young girls in London and subsequently fled to Spain to evade justice, has been captured and sentenced to a lengthy prison term.

Silverthorn, aged 36, led a disturbing operation involving underage girls and was involved in heinous acts that have shocked the community.

According to court reports, Silverthorn targeted 15-year-old girls along with his girlfriend, in a scheme that involved drugging and sexually exploiting their victims.

One particularly disturbing incident detailed in court involved Silverthorn providing a teenage girl with a legal high known as '5 NEO'.

Following this, he restrained her by tying her to a bed and muffling her screams with a ball gag.

The girl was also subjected to sexual abuse, an act that has left lasting trauma.

The severity and brutality of his actions underline the grave nature of the crimes he committed.

The investigation revealed that Silverthorn fled Britain and traveled to Ibiza, the Spanish holiday island, roughly around April last year.

His escape was part of a broader attempt to evade prosecution after he pleaded guilty in March to two counts of unlawful sexual activity involving a 15-year-old victim.

Additional charges against him included possession and distribution of indecent images of children.

His arrest on the island of Ibiza occurred earlier this month, following a lengthy search.

He was apprehended after several months on the run.

Simultaneously, his former girlfriend, Leila Kassam, 32, became a person of interest in connection with the case.

Kassam also escaped to Ibiza after admitting her involvement in child sexual exploitation offences in March last year.

She was working as a farmhand on the island when her identity was recognized by a local worker who had seen appeals by police on Crimewatch and Crimestoppers.

This recognition led to her arrest in November, and she was subsequently extradited back to the UK in December.

Kassam was sentenced to four years in prison at Blackfriars Crown Court.

Both Silverthorn and Kassam had failed to appear for their respective trials—Silverthorn missing a scheduled court date in May and being tried in absentia, where he was sentenced to an aggregate of nine years.

His sentences included four years for administering substances for sexual purposes, four years for unlawful sex offences, and six months each for separate charges involving indecent images.

Kassam's absence from court did not go unpunished; she received her own four-year sentence.

The timeline of events indicates that Silverthorn and Kassam, both from London, left the UK after their pleas and guilty admissions.

It appears they sought safety in Spain, where Silverthorn’s connection to the child exploitation ring was linked to a series of criminal acts committed between May and December 2014.

During this period, they targeted vulnerable young girls, befriending them, taking them to a central London residence, and intoxicating them with alcohol and legal highs.

The victims were then subjected to sexual assault by the pair.

The authorities managed to crack the case thanks to the vigilance of a farm owner in Ibiza.

Recognizing the suspects from public appeals, the farm owner reported their presence to police.

This tip led to Kassam’s arrest in November 2022, and she was deported to the UK in December, where she received her sentence.

Further details reveal that Silverthorn and Kassam were instrumental in orchestrating a disturbing sexual abuse network.

They, along with other accomplices, held 'legal high' parties at a flat in Haymarket, central London, during which the abuse occurred.

An additional individual involved in the case, Daniel Trinnaman from Harrow, was sentenced to two and a half years after being convicted of coercing a 15-year-old girl into sexual activity and attempting to pervert the course of justice.

Another associate, Faham Jaffer, 34, was also convicted.

Jaffer had engaged in sexual activity with one of the victims after Kassam sent a message with an explicit photograph, stating, 'Only got me a cute little 15-year-old.' He received a two-year prison sentence.

The case has drawn widespread condemnation, with Detective Rob Dewhurst from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command emphasizing the gravity of the crimes.

He described the case as a shocking example of child sexual exploitation, involving vulnerable young girls lured by the perpetrators with alcohol and legal highs to facilitate abuse.

Detective Dewhurst praised the bravery of the victims for coming forward and giving evidence in court, which was crucial in bringing these offenders to justice.

This case underscores the ongoing fight against child exploitation and human trafficking, highlighting the importance of vigilance, community involvement, and steadfast law enforcement efforts to protect young people from those who seek to exploit them.
