PAUL SHILLABEEER CAUGHT IN PETERBOROUGH LOOKING AT CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Peterborough, Paul Shillabeer, a 45-year-old known resident of Braymere Road, was found to be engaging in illegal activity involving indecent images of children. The incident came to light during a routine police check conducted on July 7, 2018, when officers visited Shillabeer’s residence as part of a scheduled lifestyle assessment.
At the time of the visit, a detective requested to see Shillabeer’s mobile phone, which he was legally obliged to surrender due to the restrictions imposed by his Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO).
Upon inspection, the police discovered that Shillabeer had been using his device to view and possibly possess indecent images of minors, a serious violation of his legal restrictions.
The mobile phone was promptly seized and subjected to a detailed forensic examination.
The investigation revealed that there were 142 indecent images stored on the device, further confirming the illegal activity.
Under the terms of his SOPO, Shillabeer was explicitly prohibited from deleting his internet search history, messages, or any applications related to his online activity.
However, during the investigation, officers found that he had deliberately deleted both his browsing history and some WhatsApp messages, which constituted a clear breach of the court order.
Following these findings, Shillabeer was brought before Peterborough Crown Court to face justice.
He pleaded guilty to two charges: possession of indecent images of children and breaching the terms of his Sexual Offences Prevention Order.
The court sentenced him to 12 weeks in prison, but the sentence was suspended for 18 months, meaning he would not serve time immediately but would be under supervision during this period.
In addition to the suspended prison sentence, the court imposed a seven-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order, which restricts his activities and interactions related to minors.
Furthermore, Shillabeer was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for an additional five years, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities to protect the community from potential harm.
This case underscores the importance of strict legal measures and vigilant law enforcement in safeguarding vulnerable populations from sexual exploitation and abuse.
