Paul Salim of Haddington, East Lothian, has admitted to a charge of domestic abuse, following proceedings at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
The offence includes allegations of controlling and abusive behaviour, including strangulation which restricted breathing, derogatory and name-calling language, pinching, and pulling the victim's hair.
Salim appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 14 May 2026 for a First Diet hearing, where he entered a guilty plea to the domestic abuse charge relating to the victim.
As a result of the plea, the complainer is not required to attend court or give evidence.
Sentencing has been deferred until 24 June 2026 at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to allow the preparation of background reports and a risk assessment.
