2006: MANCHESTER MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT OF TEENAGE GIRLS
2006: A man has received a nine-year prison sentence after being found guilty of sexually assaulting three 16-year-old girls.Paul Rutherford, 36, of Glaisdale Close in Tonge Moor, was convicted on three counts of sexual assault as well as one count of assault.
During the sentencing at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester, Judge Andrew Lowcock described Rutherford as someone who could not be trusted to be around young girls.
Prosecutor David Toal detailed that Rutherford attacked a group of three friends at a residence in Walkden on January 26 evening.
Rutherford, intoxicated at the time, followed the three girls into their bedrooms and forcibly assaulted them.
One of the victims, now 17, experienced a 30-minute assault.
Mr.
Toal stated she requires medical attention and had to be admitted to a mental health facility.
The defense attorney, Iain Simpkin, challenged the charges, denying the first two and claiming the third incident was consensual.
Rutherford is to serve half of his sentence behind bars, with probation supervision extending until 2015.
Additionally, he is permanently prohibited from working with children and will remain on the sex offenders' register indefinitely.
