PAUL ROSENBERG FROM LONDON CAUGHT WITH OVER 1,000 CHILD INDECENT IMAGES
In a case that has shocked the local community in London, Paul Rosenberg, a security guard associated with a synagogue in Mill Hill, was found to have downloaded more than 1,000 indecent images of children.The incident came to light after authorities traced suspicious activity linked to his internet account, leading to a police raid on his residence in Rowlands Close on May 29.
During the investigation, law enforcement officials discovered a disturbing collection of 1,148 abuse images stored on Rosenberg’s devices.
These images had been accessed over a period spanning from 2010 until just two weeks prior to his arrest, indicating a prolonged period of illicit activity.
Rosenberg, aged 46, admitted to police that he was struggling with a pornography addiction, which he claimed was the driving force behind his actions.
He explained that his curiosity had led him down a dark path, and he expressed remorse for his conduct.
At Harrow Crown Court, Rosenberg pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of children.
His community knew him as a familiar face at the synagogue, where he served as a security guard and was often seen greeting young children as they entered the premises.
The court heard that Rosenberg’s role involved close contact with children, which added a layer of concern regarding his access to minors.
Judge Vanessa Francis addressed Rosenberg directly, stating, “I am of the view that over a period of time you have been in some sort of psychiatric crisis which has led you to seek out images that have damaged your mental health, but more importantly, blighted the lives of children all over the world.
I hope that there will come a time when you are able to face up to the harm that you have been causing to children.” Rosenberg’s defense argued that he had never intentionally downloaded child abuse material, claiming that images appeared on his devices due to accidental or automatic processes.
Prosecutor Dipan Varsani highlighted Rosenberg’s own admission that he could not stop viewing such images, despite his claims of not actively seeking them out.
Rosenberg also stated that he was already seeking help for his pornography addiction and expressed shame over his actions.
In addition to his suspended jail sentence of six months, Rosenberg was ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register for seven years.
He was also subjected to a series of court-mandated restrictions, including a seven-year sexual prevention order, 50 hours of community service, 20 days of rehabilitation, and a fine of £115 to cover court costs.
The case has left many in the community questioning the safety of local institutions and the oversight of individuals in positions of trust.
