STOCKBRIDGE VILLAGE MAN JAILED FOR SEXUAL OFFENCES AGAINST TEENAGE GIRL
A woman was "horrified" when her husband, Paul Robinson, of no fixed address but from Stockbridge Village, confessed casually that he had been engaging in sexual activity with a teenage girl.Robinson disclosed his appalling crimes to his partner "as if it was quite normal".
She disagreed and contacted the police.
Robinson then attempted to excuse his behavior by claiming he had been "manipulated" by the girl, a claim he later retracted.
Liverpool Crown Court heard that Robinson's crimes surfaced after he told his wife about the sexual activity between him and the girl, which he described as a routine matter.
Prosecutor Philip Astbury stated his partner was left "horrified" by the revelations, leading her to alert authorities.
Police discovered messages in which Robinson expressed desire for sex with the girl and complained they had not seen each other for days.
The victim, initially too afraid to speak, later detailed how Robinson had supplied her with cannabis and inappropriately touched her, leading to sex on multiple occasions.
Robinson has one previous conviction for disclosing private sexual images with intent to cause distress in 2020.
He claimed he was remorseful during interviews, acknowledged the harm caused, and was committed to engaging with therapy and intervention.
His background includes trauma from losing both parents at a young age and struggles with mental health, including past attempts at self-harm.
Robinson admitted to six sexual offences, was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison, and required to register as a sex offender for life.
Judge Neil Flewitt KC highlighted that Robinson had initially maintained the victim had instigated the activity, but this was rejected due to the grooming evident through messaging and cannabis supply.
Robinson's account of being manipulated was found uncredible.
The judge emphasized the grooming and manipulation involved, and the profound impact on the victim.
