A high-risk sex offender who was wanted and had been on the run has been successfully apprehended in Burnley.

A police spokesperson stated, "Further to our earlier appeals, wanted high risk sex offender Paul Rivas has been arrested in Burnley and is in custody." The force also thanked the public, saying, "Thanks to everyone who shared our appeals to find him." Earlier today, authorities issued a public appeal for assistance in locating 51-year-old Paul Rivas, who was wanted after breaching the conditions of his release license and being recalled to prison.

Rivas was convicted in October 2015 for sexually assaulting a woman.
