PAUL RAJASEGARAM, EX-TEACHER FROM LONDON, JAILED FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE IMAGES
In May 2021, Paul Rajasegaram, a 33-year-old former teacher from Marylebone, central London, was sentenced to prison after being found guilty of sharing and possessing child abuse images.Rajasegaram, who previously appeared on BBC's The Voice in 2014 but was eliminated in the first round, was involved in online discussions with other paedophiles on chat platforms.
His online alias ‘London_boylover69’ was used to share disturbing child abuse material via Skype, involving children as young as three.
Authorities first became suspicious of Rajasegaram when officers from the National Crime Agency (NCA) discovered that he had described two of his pupils, aged 10 and 12, as being “really cute.” This led to further investigations, culminating in his arrest in January 2018.
During a search of his home, officers seized an Apple laptop containing 58 indecent images and 10 videos of child sexual abuse, including footage of an eight-year-old boy being raped.
The investigation revealed that Rajasegaram had engaged in such activities and exchanged child abuse images with others online.
Following his arrest, he was immediately suspended from his teaching roles at a school in Tower Hamlets and a performing arts school where he worked on weekends.
Rajasegaram, who resides in Westminster, appeared in Southwark Crown Court on Wednesday, May 19, where he pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children and two counts of distributing them.
He was sentenced to two years and three months in prison.
