PAUL NICOL FROM FIFE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE OF 12-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN EAST WEMYSS AND LEVEN
In a disturbing case that has shocked the communities of East Wemyss and Leven in Fife, Paul Nicol has been sentenced to five years in prison after being found guilty of filming himself sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl.The heinous acts took place at various residences in these towns, where Nicol lured the young girl into situations of exploitation and abuse.
According to court records, Nicol, aged 39 and residing in Glenrothes, manipulated the girl into taking a bath with him.
During this illicit encounter, he secretly recorded the act using a hidden camera, capturing the disturbing footage for his own gratification.
The court heard that Nicol's actions were not isolated but part of a series of abusive behaviors that spanned from November 2002 to July of the following year.
At a hearing held at the High Court in Edinburgh last week, Judge Lord Wheatley addressed Nicol directly, stating, “You clearly exploited the girl for your own purposes.” The judge emphasized the gravity of Nicol’s misconduct, which involved exploiting a vulnerable minor for personal sexual gratification.
Nicol had previously admitted to indecency with the girl on three separate occasions, during which he persuaded her to enter a bath, wash him, and engage in indecent acts.
The court was also informed that months later, Nicol made the girl watch the footage he had secretly recorded as he continued to abuse her.
During the proceedings, Nicol’s defense lawyer, Peter Ferguson, explained that his client had chosen to plead guilty to the charges, thereby avoiding a trial that could have been extremely traumatic for the young victim.
Ferguson also revealed that Nicol, a father of five, had immediately confessed to the police upon being questioned and was seeking help for what he described as a “condition.” He characterized Nicol as someone who was “unwell,” which the court took into consideration.
Judge Lord Wheatley noted that reports prepared for the court indicated Nicol’s apparent lack of full understanding of the severity of his actions.
Despite this, the judge made it clear that Nicol’s behavior was a serious breach of trust and morality.
As part of his sentence, Nicol was ordered to be under strict supervision for eight years following his release from prison.
Additionally, his name has been entered onto the sex offenders’ register, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his conduct to protect the community from further harm.
