PAUL MARSH SENTENCED TO 11 YEARS FOR RAPE AND SEXUAL OFFENCES IN HALIFAX
A man from Halifax has been handed a significant prison sentence of over a decade after being convicted of serious sexual crimes, including rape, sexual assault, and indecent exposure.Paul Andrew John Marsh, aged 57 and formerly residing on Thornton Terrace in Halifax, was sentenced last Friday at Bradford Crown Court.
The conviction followed a jury trial during which Marsh was found guilty of multiple allegations brought against him by a female victim.
The alleged offences were committed some time ago and were classified as non-recent, prompting an investigation by the Calderdale Safeguarding Team once the woman came forward to report her experiences.
The authorities initiated proceedings after being informed of the allegations, which ultimately led to Marsh’s arrest and subsequent formal charges.
During the trial at Bradford Crown Court, Marsh was convicted of serious sexual offences, including rape, sexual assault, and indecent exposure.
The court heard evidence that supported the victim’s account, leading to his conviction.
As part of the penalties, Marsh was not only sentenced to 11 years in prison but also will be listed on the sex offender register for life.
Additionally, he was issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that will remain in force indefinitely, serving as a safeguard intended to protect the public from further harm.
Detective Constable Rosie Harrison from the Calderdale Safeguarding Team commented on the case, stating, “We are pleased with the substantial custodial sentence handed to Marsh which reflects the seriousness of his offending.” She emphasized the importance of victims feeling able to come forward, encouraging anyone who has experienced unreported sexual offences or abuse—whether recent or from the past—to contact police.
“All reports are handled with the utmost sensitivity and confidentiality.
We commit to thoroughly investigating every allegation and securing justice for victims,” she added.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts within Halifax and the broader Calderdale area to address sexual offences and ensure perpetrators are held accountable, providing some measure of justice to those who have suffered in silence.
