PAUL MACKIE FROM EDINBURGH CAUGHT WITH CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE IMAGES AND VIDEOS
In May 2022, authorities uncovered disturbing evidence linking Paul Mackie, a 70-year-old resident of Edinburgh, to the possession of highly illegal and depraved material involving child abuse.The investigation was initiated after police executed a search warrant at Mackie’s residence located in the Restalrig area of Edinburgh.
During the raid, law enforcement officers seized a mobile phone along with other electronic devices belonging to Mackie.
A thorough examination of these devices revealed a collection of child abuse images and videos that depicted extremely graphic and disturbing scenes involving young girls aged between ten and twelve.
The material was classified at the highest level of severity, Category A, indicating the worst forms of indecency, including child rape and torture.
Among the recovered content was a particularly heinous video titled “Thirteen-year-old Becky was walking home from school when she was kidnapped, taken to a disused warehouse, and raped.” The footage showed a young girl being subjected to sexual assault by adult men, a scene that was both shocking and deeply disturbing.
The court was informed that the video depicted the girl being kidnapped while walking home from school, highlighting the disturbing nature of the material.
Edinburgh Sheriff Court heard that the police had identified ten unique videos on Mackie’s devices, all of which fell under the Category A classification.
In addition to these, other images categorized as B and C were also recovered, further emphasizing the severity of the material found.
The evidence presented painted a clear picture of Mackie’s involvement in possessing and possibly viewing such illegal content.
During the court proceedings, Sheriff Wendy Sheehan was informed that Mackie was a first-time offender.
As a result, she deferred sentencing until July to allow for the preparation of reports that would assist in determining an appropriate penalty.
Mackie appeared in court to admit to possessing indecent photographs of children on August 5 of the previous year, marking a significant development in the case and underscoring the seriousness of the charges against him.
