PAUL MACKENZIE FROM FIFE SENTENCED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT IN GLENROTHES AND DUNFERMLINE
In a disturbing series of crimes committed in Fife, Paul Mackenzie has been convicted and sentenced for multiple sexual offenses involving young victims. The most recent incident took place in March 2022, when Mackenzie, then 21 years old, attacked a 15-year-old girl in a wooded area near Gilvenbank Park in Glenrothes.
The court heard that the assault was particularly heinous, with Mackenzie choking the teenage girl until she lost consciousness.
During the attack, he made a chilling remark to the terrified victim, saying, “You are going back to sleep until I am finished,” as she regained consciousness.
The girl, who was walking in the woods after an argument with Mackenzie earlier that day, had initially believed him to be a minor, as he falsely claimed to be only 16 years old.
According to reports, the girl had a disagreement with Mackenzie, after which she decided to walk away towards the woods near Gilvenbank Park.
Mackenzie, a father of one, followed her, apologized, and then attempted to kiss her repeatedly.
When she refused his advances and begged to be allowed to go home, Mackenzie refused, telling her, “You are not going to leave until I am finished.” The girl later recounted that she must have passed out during the assault, only to wake up to find herself partially clothed.
Despite her pleas, Mackenzie continued the sexual attack, which resulted in injuries to her mouth and neck.
The court was told that Mackenzie denied any involvement when questioned by police, claiming that he had walked her home and then left alone for the bus station.
In addition to this recent attack, Mackenzie has a prior conviction for a sexual assault on a 15-year-old boy in September 2019.
That incident occurred in woods near Carnegie Hall in Dunfermline.
Mackenzie, originally from Dunfermline, appeared via video link from Polmont Young Offenders’ Institution in Stirlingshire, where he has been held on remand since September of the previous year.
He pleaded guilty to both charges—rape and injury of the girl, as well as the earlier assault on the boy.
The court, after considering the gravity of his crimes, sentenced Mackenzie to a total of eight years in prison.
The sentencing hearing took place at the High Court in Glasgow, where Mackenzie was remanded pending the final judgment.
The judge emphasized the seriousness of his offenses and the need for appropriate punishment to reflect the harm caused to his victims.
