PAUL KELLY AND SHOCKING CHILD INDECENCY IN STOKE-ON-TRENT
Paul Kelly, a 61-year-old resident of Stoke-on-Trent, has admitted to the making of two indecent pseudo images involving a minor.This confession comes after he previously served a prison term in 2018 when he pleaded guilty to three separate offences related to the creation and possession of indecent images of children, as well as owning a prohibited image.
Despite serving time for such offences, Kelly’s criminal conduct persisted.
During a routine visit at his home on Moorland Road, Burslem, in September 2022, an officer from Staffordshire Police’s sex offender management unit conducted a search.
This visit was part of ongoing monitoring, yet the officer’s diligence uncovered disturbing evidence: two indecent images of a child under the age of 16.
These images were particularly sinister, consisting of a photograph of a girl’s face superimposed onto another person's body, a form of image manipulation often associated with predatory behavior.
The discovery was detailed at North Staffordshire Justice Centre, where details of the case were presented.
The officer obtained Kelly’s iPhone 14 and inspected its contents.
The images found were deeply concerning, highlighting Kelly’s continued engagement in illegal and exploitative material involving minors.
Legal proceedings saw a plea for further assessment.
Paige Morgan, representing Kelly, requested that magistrates adjourn the case to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
She emphasized that Kelly suffers from mental health issues, is on antidepressants, and is currently unfit for work, which could be relevant in his sentencing.
The magistrates agreed to transfer the case to Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court for further deliberation.
Kelly’s bail was extended to allow for his appearance at the higher court, where he is scheduled to face the charges at a date to be announced.
