PAUL INGHAM AND HIS SHOCKING CHILD SEX OFFENCES IN WAKEFIELD

A man from Wakefield has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 23 years after being convicted of committing multiple serious sexual offences against two young children over a span of more than a decade.

The convicted individual, Paul Ingham, aged 63 and residing on St Catherine Street in the Agbrigg area of Wakefield, appeared before Leeds Crown Court on Friday, July 29, for his final sentencing.

The court proceedings followed an earlier trial during which Ingham was found guilty of a series of grave charges relating to his abuse of minors.

Specifically, he was convicted of five counts involving encouraging or coercing children aged between 13 and 15 to engage in sexual activities.

These offences demonstrate a pattern of predatory behaviour aimed at vulnerable minors over a prolonged period.

In addition to these convictions, Ingham faced a series of other serious charges, including one count of assault involving a girl under the age of 13 by penetration, five counts of sexual touching of a girl under 13, and the rape of a girl under 13.

These allegations highlight the brutality and severity of his crimes, which were allegedly committed between 2004 and 2016.

The court didn't only focus on the length of the prison sentence; additional restrictions were also imposed.

Ingham was ordered to be subject to a lifetime restraining order, which prevents him from contacting or approaching his victims or other minors.

Furthermore, he was issued a lifetime sexual harm prevention order, aimed at reducing the risk of reoffending and protecting the community from future harm.

In commenting on the case, Detective Sergeant Heather Brady, who is part of the Wakefield District Child Safeguarding team, expressed her appreciation for the bravery of the victims.

She remarked, "I would like to take this opportunity to thank and commend the two victims for their immense bravery in reporting such horrendous abuse.

Their courage has ensured that he was unable to continue his offending." Sergeant Brady also emphasized the gravity of Ingham's actions and the judicial response.

She stated, "The sentence that Ingham has been given reflects the extent and sustained nature of his offending.

He is a dangerous, predatory man and deserves to be behind bars." This case underscores the importance of vigilance and reporting in cases of child abuse, and it highlights the critical role that law enforcement and judicial systems play in safeguarding vulnerable populations within Wakefield and beyond.
