Paul Horne

Greetland Sexual Abuser

July 2011 Tears of a child-sex pervert A GREETLAND man is beginning a 15-year prison sentence for sexually abusing two young girls. Paul Horne, 35, was pictured by police with tears streaming down his face. He has been convicted of indecently assaulting one youngster almost 20 years ago and a jury also found him guilty of a series of more recent sex offences against another girl. Horne, of Victoria Street, was cleared on charges of rape and physical assault in relation to the most recent complainant and was also acquitted on rape and attempted rape allegations involving a third complainant. The jury returned their guilty verdicts at the end of a five-day trial at Bradford Crown Court and Judge James Goss QC said Horne had shown no remorse. He said Horne’s behaviour towards the second complainant had been dreadful. The jury found Horne guilty assault by penetration, sexual assault and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity in relation to the second girl. The judge told Horne he would be subject to an indefinite sexual offences prevention order which bans him from unsupervised contact with children under 16 and he will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. Det Insp Gail Lawrie, of Calderdale’s Safeguarding Unit, said: “This was a difficult investigation that spanned two years. “It has taken a great deal of courage for the victims to relive their ordeal and we hope they feel reassured by the sentence.”
