MAN GIVEN COMMUNITY ORDER AFTER THREATENING EX-PARTNER AND SMASHING DOOR
A man who restrained his previous partner and threatened to kill her has received a two-year community order. It was reported to Worcester Magistrates Court that Paul Hood’s eyes appeared “bulging” as he made threats during an incident at her residence in Malvern.
Hood had been permitted to stay at the woman's home on Mason Close the night before but left for work in the morning.
He returned at approximately 2:30 pm and consumed three cans of Stella lager.
According to Ms.
Mayne, Hood examined her computer and discovered messages of a sexual nature with another man from when they were separated.
The court was informed that the couple had a discussion in the bedroom, after which Hood forcibly pinned the woman to the bed and yelled, “I’m going to kill you tonight.” The victim was frightened by his threats, leading her to lock herself in the bedroom and contact police.
Hood forcibly broke down the door, damaging the doorframe, and seized her phone.
The woman managed to flee the bedroom and called emergency services using a different phone.
She did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
Hood admitted to charges of assault and criminal damage and showed remorse for his actions.
He has struggled with alcoholism for the past decade, consuming approximately 12 cans of beer each day.
The court ordered him to complete a two-year community supervision program, including sessions for alcohol and anger management.
Additionally, he was ordered to pay £100 in compensation for the broken door and £85 in court costs.
