PAUL HILTON OF ROCHDALE APPEARS IN COURT AFTER PERPETRATING SEXUAL GROOMING OFFENSES
In March 2019, Paul Michael Hilton, a 42-year-old unemployed man from Rochdale, appeared in court after being caught by a paedophile hunting team.
Hilton, a previously convicted sex offender, admitted to breaching a sexual harm prevention order and attempting to meet a child following sexual grooming.
The court heard that Hilton contacted what he believed was a 14-year-old girl through an online profile.
He expressed a desire to meet her at his house for sex.
Recognizing that his actions were illegal, Hilton acknowledged that he could go to prison if anyone discovered the messages.
He repeatedly instructed the girl to delete the messages after reading them and used a fake name while communicating.
Hilton had arranged a meet-up, but on January 24, 2019, he was met by the paedophile hunting team 'Stung by Confronted.' During questioning, Hilton confessed to the team that he had been previously jailed for sexual offenses and, although he was still on license, that license was set to end in two weeks.
He later admitted the charges to police, and he is due to be sentenced at a future date.
