In a significant case that highlights issues of honesty and professional conduct within the medical community, Paul Hewish, a 53-year-old general practitioner originally from Goole, East Yorkshire, has been formally removed from the medical register following serious misconduct. Hewish's criminal history and subsequent dishonesty in employment applications have raised concerns about safeguarding and ethical standards in healthcare and employment sectors.

It was later revealed that Hewish was a registered sex offender, a fact he failed to disclose when applying for subsequent employment opportunities.
Despite his criminal background, Hewish secured a position as a park warden at Hopton Holiday Village in Norfolk, a popular holiday destination. However, he did so without informing his employer, Bourne Leisure, of his status on the sex offenders' register. His employment at the holiday camp began after he completed an application form on March 1, 2003, in which he deliberately omitted critical information about his criminal convictions and his status as a registered sex offender. Furthermore, Hewish falsely claimed to be a self-employed contractor for a period of 12 years up to 2002, when in fact he was practicing as a general practitioner in Goole, East Yorkshire.
The seriousness of his misconduct was underscored during a hearing held by the General Medical Council (GMC) in Manchester. The GMC's professional conduct committee expressed deep concern over Hewish's actions, citing a
