PAUL HARRISON AND SHOCKING BREACH IN STOKE-ON-TRENT AND STOKE-ON-TRENT

Paul Harrison, a resident of Biddulph in the Stoke-on-Trent area, has found himself back in trouble with the law after violating a court-mandated order related to his previous sexual offenses.

Harrison, aged 30, is a registered sex offender who is under strict restrictions designed to protect minors from potential harm.

Specifically, he is on the Sex Offenders' Register and is prohibited from being alone with any child.

Despite these legal obligations, Harrison was recently caught violating the terms of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) that was placed on him following his earlier incarceration.

Harrison had served a sentence of 45 months due to engaging in sexual activity with a minor.

As part of his ongoing legal restrictions, he is not permitted to be unsupervised with children, yet he was found in a compromising situation where he was alone with a child, thereby breaching the court order.

This breach led to Harrison being sentenced to eight months in prison.

However, the sentence was suspended for two years, meaning he will not serve time immediately but will be subject to certain conditions if he commits further violations.

The case was heard at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, where the court addressed the circumstances of his violation.

During the proceedings, it was revealed that Harrison had initiated contact with a police risk assessor, informing them that he was now in a relationship with a woman who has two children under the age of 16.

This information was brought to light when circumstances surrounding the breach arose.

The court heard that between September 2 and September 4, Harrison, his partner, and her two children traveled to a holiday home in North Wales.

During this period, his partner had to leave with one of the children due to an illness, which left Harrison in charge of the other child.

It was during this unsupervised two-day window that concerns were raised.

A formal complaint was lodged following the incident, leading to Harrison's arrest.

It was noted in court that one of the children was unwell at the time, prompting the child’s mother to take her back home.

Harrison was accused of remaining alone with the child during the period when supervision was required by law.

Harrison pleaded guilty to three charges of breaching the Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

In his defense, solicitor Martin Bloor argued that Harrison had been aware of the restrictions imposed by the SHPO and that he had discussed these with his partner prior to establishing their relationship.

Bloor emphasized that Harrison had fully complied with the order before the breach and clarified that this incident was his first violation—highlighting that there was no evidence of any other substantive offenses or contact offenses involving children.

The court had to consider the nature of the breach and Harrison's circumstances.

Recorder Julian Taylor pointed out that if Harrison's partner had been present during the incident, the breach might not have occurred.

The judge also commented that Harrison should have left the holiday home when his partner did as a means of complying with the order.

As part of his suspended sentence, Harrison is required to undertake 32 days of rehabilitative activities and complete 100 hours of unpaid work.

He was also ordered to pay costs totaling £460.

The court emphasized that the protections afforded by the SHPO extend until April 5, 2027, and that Harrison remains on the Sex Offenders' Register, underlining the ongoing restrictions designed to safeguard children in the community.
