SWANSEA MAN JAILED FOR LIFE IN 'COLD AND CALCULATED' WIFE MURDER
A 26-year-old man named Paul Grabham was sentenced to life imprisonment after being found guilty of the 'cold and calculated' killing of his wife, Kirsty Grabham, aged 24.The court heard that he denied killing her, which took place in March 2009 at their shared residence in Swansea.
Her body was later located near the M4 motorway in Bridgend, concealed within a suitcase.
Evidence presented by the prosecution indicated that the couple, who worked as prostitutes and promoted their services online, had a volatile relationship.
The murder reportedly resulted from an argument over his involvement with 'dogging' websites.
The jury convicted Grabham, and the judge designated a minimum term of 19 years, deducting the 302 days he had spent in custody awaiting trial.
During the sentencing, Mr.
Justice Butterfield described the murder as 'vicious and sustained,' noting that alcohol and drugs played a role and highlighting the defendant's lack of remorse.
He described how Grabham had packed his wife’s bleeding, still-warm body into a suitcase in a manner likened to discarding rubbish, aiming to hide the crime for years.
Forensic evidence revealed bloodstains on his shoes and jeans, as well as blood traces in the flat, suggesting efforts to clean the scene.
The court also discussed how Grabham couldn't explain the blood found on his clothing.
The trial included details of injuries and evidence of violence, as well as the couple's relationship history, their work as prostitutes, and the circumstances of the violent dispute that night.
The jury’s decision highlighted the calculated aspect of the murder, with the judge emphasizing the defendant’s evident lack of remorse and the brutality involved.
