RAPIST JAILED FOR 10 YEARS
A man from Great Yarmouth has received a 10-year prison sentence after being convicted of raping a woman he brought to his residence.Paul Glascott, 42 years old and residing on Anson Road in Great Yarmouth, was sentenced at Norwich Crown Court on Friday, July 3, 2026.
The conviction followed a trial held earlier in February 2026, where he was found guilty of the assault.
The incident came to light on May 29, 2022, when the woman reported to police that she had awakened at an unidentified address without knowing how she arrived there, who her host was, or where she was.
The woman indicated that a man had been attempting to have sex with her during that time.
She contacted law enforcement from a friend's residence and consented to forensic testing.
The examinations confirmed that sexual intercourse had taken place, although she had no recollection of the event.
Investigations led authorities to Glascott, who was subsequently detained at his residence on May 31, 2022.
CCTV footage revealed that in the early hours of May 29, Glascott had entered a taxi on Marine Parade, leaving its door open.
Moments later, the woman was seen approaching and entering the same vehicle through the open door.
In a statement read to the court the victim said: “This has affected in me in so many ways, it has affected my mental health, my relationship with my partner, my relationship with my friends and has also at times impacted my job.
“I struggle with feeling ashamed and guilty about the impact this has had on my partner and family, this has not just affected me, but everyone around me, my whole support network who have had to support me for the last four years.
“In May 2022, I lost a part of myself.
I lost my confidence, my sense of safety, and the life I once recognized.
I feel empty and I do not know if I will ever fully regain the person I was before this happened.”
