February 2021 Walker dad caught with sick stash of more than 900 indecent images of children A dad was found with a sick stash of more than 900 indecent images children. Paul Cookson was found to have the vile photos and videos on his computer at his home in Walker, Newcastle. A court heard that the 41-year-old’s disgusting collection included four category A images, which are the most serious kind and involve penetrative sexual activity. Four category B and 942 category C photos and moving pictures were also found. Cookson, of Hexham Avenue, in Walker, appeared at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, where he pleaded guilty to three counts of making an indecent photo of a child and one of possessing a prohibited image of a child. Prosecutor, Glenda Beck, said, because category A photos were involved, the case was so serious it should be finalised at the crown court. She added: “The date of on the charges is February 13 2019.” Sophie Allinson, defending, made no representations. Agreeing, District Judge Paul Currer committed Cookson to Newcastle Crown Court for sentence. He said: “Theses offences are so serious, they will be committed to the Crown Court and that’s what I will do. “It will be unconditional bail. Mr Cookson, you have pleaded guilty to these offences and, in due course, you will be given credit. “However, they are so serious that I cannot deal with them here. “You must attend Newcastle Crown Court on February 25 at 10am. Please make sure you attend. If you don’t, you have committed an offence for which you will be prosecuted.” The judge added: “Because you have admitted theses offences, you’re required within three days to attend a police station and inform them. “This is referred to as the Sex Offenders’ Register. However, there is no register with people’s names on, it’s just that you are obliged to let the police know where you are living.” Prior to Cookson’s next court appearance, District Judge Currer requested the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
