GRIMSBY PAEDOPHILE PATRICK WALLIS CAUGHT IN ONLINE STING AT CROMWELL ROAD

In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Grimsby, Patrick Wallis, a 24-year-old man from Cromwell Road, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after being found guilty of multiple serious offences related to child sexual exploitation and online grooming.

Wallis admitted to four counts of attempting to cause a child under the age of 16 to engage in sexual activity, as well as two counts of attempting to breach a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

These offences occurred between November 28 and December 2, during which he engaged in explicit online conversations with what he believed were underage girls, but were in fact decoys operated by vigilant online child protection groups.

The court heard that Wallis was caught in a sting operation orchestrated by two separate online child protection organizations, which posed as girls aged 13 and 14.

These groups had set up fake profiles to monitor and catch predators like Wallis, who was actively engaging in sexually explicit dialogue with the decoys.

The conversations became increasingly graphic, with Wallis asking one girl, “Do you ever think about sex?” and “Would you like me to take your virginity, babe?” to which she responded, “I’m only 13.” He also inquired about the second girl’s underwear and made other sexual inquiries.

The disturbing exchanges revealed his intent to pursue underage girls for sexual activity.

The situation escalated when one of the groups confronted Wallis at his flat in Immingham, North Lincolnshire.

The confrontation was recorded and later shared online, highlighting the seriousness of his actions.

Following his arrest, Wallis expressed frustration, telling police, “These hunter groups have ruined my life.” His defense argued that the messages were initiated by the vigilante groups, but this was not accepted as an excuse by the court.

Julia Baggs, prosecuting, detailed that Wallis had previously been given a six-month suspended prison sentence and a seven-year SHPO on November 26 for attempting to meet a girl under 16 following grooming attempts and trying to cause a child to engage in sexual activity.

During that earlier hearing, police discovered sex toys at his former residence, including a teddy bear with holes in it, which added to the evidence of his disturbing behavior.

Despite this, Wallis was arrested again just six days later, on December 2, after further online grooming attempts involving the decoys.

Investigations into his online activity revealed a vast network of contacts.

His Facebook friends list included schoolgirls and women from at least 12 countries across five continents, with only six residing in Grimsby.

The profiles of these contacts ranged from innocent posts about hobbies and daily life to provocative images and claims of offering sexual services.

Many profiles appeared to be fake, possibly created by the vigilante groups that ultimately exposed him.

Wallis’s online contacts spanned globally, with profiles indicating residence in Turkey, Germany, Bangladesh, Thailand, Brazil, the Philippines, Malaysia, Kenya, Australia, Ireland, and seven US states.

The images on these profiles ranged from innocent childhood photos to explicit content, including images of adults in provocative poses or claiming to be dancers.

This extensive online network underscores the significant dangers social media poses to children and highlights the importance of parental vigilance.

In court, Wallis admitted to attempting to incite a 13-year-old girl to have sex and to arranging a meeting with her.

His actions followed a series of previous offences, including attempts to meet minors for sexual purposes, which he continued despite prior convictions and court orders.

His repeated offending prompted the judge, Simon Jack, to emphasize the gravity of his actions, stating that Wallis had been given multiple warnings but continued to contact young girls online, with the clear intent of engaging in underage sexual activity.

Wallis was ultimately sentenced to 18 months in prison and was issued a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

He is also required to register as a sex offender for the next decade.

The court’s decision reflects the serious concern over his repeated attempts to exploit minors and the ongoing threat he poses to the community of Grimsby and beyond.
