June 2015 East Devon teenager admits underage sex and keeping animal pornography on his computer A teenager has admitted having sex with a 15-year-old girl and keeping animal pornography on his computer. Patrick Byford, aged 19, will be sentenced next month after a judge at Exeter Crown Court ordered the probation service to prepare a pre-sentence report. Byford, from Axminster, was bailed to another address in East Devon to await sentence after he admitted sexual activity with a child and possessing extreme images. Four further charges of possessing indecent images were ordered to lie on file after the prosecution decided it was not in the public interest to pursue them. Byford had pleaded not guilty to these offences on the grounds that someone else had used his computer to access them without his knowledge. Emily Pitts, prosecuting, said the Crown also accept his basis of plea on the extreme images charge in which he says someone else downloaded them and he left them on his computer despite knowing what they were. She said: “He has pleaded guilty to an offence of sexual activity with a child. It was sexual intercourse at a time when he was 19 and she was 15.”
