EXETER MAN PATRICK BREZOVSKY CAUGHT WITH KIDNAP KIT AND GROOMING PLANS IN EXETER

In June 2017, a disturbing case unfolded involving Patrick Brezovsky, a man from Exeter who was arrested for attempting to meet a teenage girl for sexual purposes.

The police intervention revealed a frightening collection of items that suggested he was prepared for more sinister actions.

Brezovsky, aged 23, had arranged to meet a 14-year-old girl at Exeter bus station after engaging her through sexually explicit messages on Facebook.

His plans were thwarted when law enforcement intercepted him before the meeting could take place.

During the arrest, authorities discovered a variety of dangerous and potentially criminal items in his possession.

Under the driver's seat of his vehicle, they found an axe, which could be used as a weapon.

On the central console, there were two condoms, indicating possible intent for sexual activity.

In the trunk, officers uncovered a balaclava, duct tape, ladies' tights, and a can of CS spray, all of which could be used for concealment or restraint.

Additionally, Brezovsky possessed a blue flashing light, which could be affixed to a vehicle's dashboard to mimic emergency services, and a piece of riding gear resembling police body armor, further suggesting an attempt to impersonate authority figures.

His disturbing preparations did not end there.

The police also found gloves, a stab-proof vest, and a piece of police-style body armor, all of which raised serious concerns about his intentions.

The presence of these items, combined with the messaging indicating his interest in engaging in sexual activity with a minor, painted a clear picture of premeditated criminal intent.

It was not the first time Brezovsky had come under scrutiny.

Five months prior to this incident, he was caught in Exeter with two 14-year-old girls in his car.

He had persuaded them to run away from home by offering them cannabis, a tactic that demonstrated his manipulative approach to vulnerable minors.

On that occasion, police stopped him after the father of one of the girls noticed she was missing and found Brezovsky’s Facebook contact details on her phone.

During that earlier arrest, officers seized two flick knives and a CS gas spray, which Brezovsky claimed he had brought from Slovakia as gifts for friends.

Following his latest arrest, Brezovsky was charged with multiple serious offenses.

He admitted to meeting a child after grooming her and was also found guilty of possessing bladed articles and prohibited weapons.

His actions led to a significant legal consequence: he was sentenced to four years and six months in prison by Recorder Mr.

Ignatius Hughes, QC, at Exeter Crown Court.

The court also ordered him to sign the sex offenders’ register and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which will restrict his contact with minors upon his release.

Prosecutor Miss Judith Cornwall detailed the events leading to his arrest.

She explained that Brezovsky was first detained on June 20 of the previous year after the father of a 14-year-old girl reported her missing at 11:30 p.m.

on a Sunday night.

Facebook messages revealed that the girl had arranged to meet Brezovsky and travel with him to Tiverton to buy cannabis.

Police stopped him in Russell Way, Exeter, at approximately 1:45 a.m., where they seized two flick knives and the CS spray.

Brezovsky claimed he had brought these items from Slovakia as presents for friends.

He was released on bail but continued his attempts to contact vulnerable minors.

On November 24, he reached out again via Facebook to a different 14-year-old girl who was experiencing bullying, depression, and self-harm.

He flattered her and arranged to meet her that very night for sexual activity.

The girl, who traveled to Exeter by bus, confided in a schoolfriend, who then informed her mother.

The police were alerted and intercepted her upon arrival.

At the same time, officers stopped Brezovsky in the Princesshay car park, mere yards from where the girl was waiting.

The evidence collected during this second arrest was alarming.

The police found two condoms, a CS canister in a sports bag, and the axe hidden beneath the driver's seat mat.

In the trunk, they discovered a balaclava, gloves, tape, a blue flashing light, and a stab-proof vest.

The items underscored the serious nature of his intentions and the potential danger he posed.

The victim expressed her relief that police intervened, stating in a victim impact statement that she was fortunate to be saved and that she cannot stop thinking about what might have happened to her.

Her statement highlighted the gravity of the case and the importance of law enforcement’s swift action in preventing possible harm.
