A man named Parvaiz Akhtar has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term of 14 years after being convicted of serious sexual offenses committed in Calderdale, West Yorkshire.

The crimes date back over three decades, with the initial abuse beginning when the victim was only five years old.

The investigation into these historic allegations was initiated by West Yorkshire Police officers based in Calderdale, following a report from the victim herself.

Akhtar, who is now 61 years old, faced a trial at Bradford Crown Court where he was found guilty of two counts of rape and nine sexual assault charges.

Prior to the trial, he had already pleaded guilty to one count of rape and one count of sexual assault, acknowledging his involvement in these heinous acts.

The court proceedings culminated in a sentencing hearing on Tuesday, during which Akhtar was not only handed the 14-year prison sentence but was also ordered to be placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely, reflecting the severity and ongoing risk associated with his crimes.
