Farnhill Child Sexual Abuser
In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the local community, Oscar Magoolagan, a 29-year-old resident of Starkey Lane in Farnhill, was apprehended after engaging in online conversations with an undercover police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl. The incident, which unfolded over several days in January 2021, revealed a pattern of predatory behavior that alarmed authorities and highlighted the ongoing dangers of online grooming.

According to prosecutor Sam Roxborough, Magoolagan initiated contact with what he believed was a young girl, expressing inappropriate interest and making sexually explicit comments. He told the decoy that she was 'hot' and that he would treat her like a princess, indicating a disturbing desire to pursue a sexual relationship with a minor. The court was informed that Magoolagan's conversations quickly turned sexualized, despite the officer clearly stating her age as 13 at the outset.

During the exchanges, Magoolagan sent explicit images of himself, including a topless photo and, alarmingly, an image of his penis. He also made comments about picking her up from Preston, offering to engage in sexual activity at his home, and encouraged her to touch herself sexually. His language was overtly suggestive, and he repeatedly referred to her as 'hot,' further emphasizing his predatory intent.

Authorities revealed that Magoolagan's online communication was intense and persistent, with him wasting no time in sexualizing the conversation after initial contact. The court heard that he was eager to pursue a physical encounter, which he believed could happen at his residence in Farnhill or nearby Preston.

Following the culmination of these conversations, Magoolagan ceased contact after a few days. He was subsequently arrested on January 27, 2021, and authorities seized his phone and laptops as evidence. The case was brought before Skipton Magistrates’ Court, where Magoolagan pleaded guilty to charges of attempting to incite a 13-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity and attempting to communicate sexually with a child.

During the sentencing hearing, Recorder Taryn Turner acknowledged the seriousness of the offenses, emphasizing the importance of protecting children from such predatory behavior. She stated that she was not inclined to rehearse the sordid details of the case but made it clear that such offenses are of extreme concern to all parents and must be dealt with firmly.

Despite the gravity of his actions, Magoolagan was noted to be voluntarily engaging with a professional organization aimed at addressing his behavior. Since the incident, he has not reoffended. As part of his sentence, he received a 16-month prison term, suspended for two years, along with requirements to participate in an accredited rehabilitation program and complete 25 days of additional rehabilitation activities. Furthermore, the court imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order lasting five years to restrict his future conduct and protect the community from potential harm.
