Four men who subjected a highly vulnerable teenager from Keighley, West Yorkshire, to a sustained campaign of sexual abuse have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms. The group provided the girl with drugs and alcohol and systematically and repeatedly assaulted her during the period between 2009 and 2010, according to prosecutors. The victim, now 20, suffered long-lasting psychological effects including PTSD as a result of her ordeal.

A fifth individual involved was convicted of three counts of rape and is yet to be sentenced. Prosecutor Katherine Robinson told Bradford Crown Court that the woman approached police after her abuse, and officers noted at the time that the older men appeared to recognize her fragile state and her struggles with alcohol.

In a victim statement read aloud in court, she expressed that she was left "unable to look after myself due to my mental health" following the abuse.

Judge Andrew Hatton, who sentenced the men, remarked, "The gross abuse she suffered at your hands is a significant factor in her current mental health status."

Detective Chief Inspector Alan Weekes of West Yorkshire Police stated, "The victim has been robbed of her childhood. I hope that seeing these men imprisoned for the heinous crimes committed against her will help her begin to look towards the future."

Haring about the defendants' actions, Ed Hulbert of the Crown Prosecution Service commented, "They cynically manipulated and ruthlessly exploited a young and vulnerable girl."

Omar Safdar, 30, who has no fixed address, was sentenced to 12 years in prison after being convicted of three counts of rape. Imran Sabir, aged 42 from Spencer Street, Keighley, received the same sentence after being found guilty of two counts of rape. Hassan Basharat, 32, of Highfield Road, Keighley, was also sentenced to 12 years following his conviction on three counts of rape and an additional 16 months for two counts of dangerous driving. Barber Hussain, 36, from Thorn Lane in Bradford, was handed a 13-year sentence for seven counts of rape. The fifth man, Amjad Hussain, was convicted of three rapes but awaits sentencing.

All five men were found guilty during a trial held in October.
