SCHIZOPHRENIC 'FREED' TO KILL HIS FATHER IN LONDON
A dangerous schizophrenic identified as Omar Parada Blanco was released on home leave from a psychiatric facility despite assessments indicating he posed a risk to others. The Old Bailey was informed that he had been admitted to hospital 11 times since his mental illness was first diagnosed in 1998, often after threats or attacks on the public or family members.
Notably, he had been released after treatment multiple times, including for special occasions, even though medication compliance was an issue.
In December 2007, Parada Blanco was allowed out to celebrate New Year with his father, Enrique Parada Castro, but just days later, he murdered him.
The father was found dead with severe head injuries after being bludgeoned with a vacuum cleaner pipe, with police initially mistaking the injuries for a gunshot wound.
Parada Blanco later admitted to doctors that he committed the killing because his father had made disrespectful comments about his jeans, which he linked to disrespect towards rappers.
The judge at the trial ordered him to be detained permanently in a high-security psychiatric hospital, Broadmoor, as he was deemed a serious threat, citing a pattern of worsening behavior, relapse, and non-compliance with medication.
