OLEKSANDR NOVIKOV CAUGHT IN GLASGOW: SCANDAL INVOLVING PAEDOPHILE STING AT GLASGOW CENTRAL

In a disturbing case that has shocked the local community, Oleksandr Novikov, a man believed to be working as a carer in Glasgow, was caught in a sting operation that exposed his involvement in inappropriate and illegal activities targeting minors.

The incident unfolded at Glasgow Central Station in January 2018, where Novikov was found waiting for what he thought was a young schoolgirl, only to be confronted by an online vigilante group known as Wolfpack Hunters UK.

According to reports, Novikov had been engaged in online conversations with someone he believed to be a 14-year-old girl named Megan.

In reality, Megan was an adult woman from Falkirk who had lent her photographs to the anti-grooming group to create a decoy profile on social media platform MeetMe.

The group’s purpose was to catch predators attempting to contact minors for sexual purposes.

The online interactions between Novikov and the decoy began in early January, with the man, who was reportedly working as a carer in Scotland, repeatedly messaging the young girl.

He introduced himself as “Alex Glasgow,” describing himself as an easy-going and open-minded individual.

Despite being warned about her age, Novikov’s messages grew increasingly sexualized.

He asked if she liked “older guys,” expressed excitement, and even suggested meeting up for “some fun,” including explicit references to performing oral sex.

Over the course of nearly two weeks, from January 4 to January 16, the conversations continued, with Novikov showing no regard for the warnings about her age.

The decoy, acting on behalf of Wolfpack Hunters, arranged for him to meet at Glasgow Central Station on January 17.

Accompanied by two adult males from the group, the decoy approached Novikov at the station, recognized him from his online profile, and began filming the encounter.

When challenged about his actions, Novikov admitted that he knew what he was doing was wrong.

Police were called to the scene, and he was detained, cautioned, and taken into custody.

His mobile phone was seized as evidence.

Novikov, who resides on Paisley Road West in Glasgow, was cooperative during the arrest.

Following the arrest, Novikov was charged with sending messages of a sexual nature to a person he believed to be under 14 and traveling to meet a minor with the intent of engaging in sexual activity.

He pleaded guilty to these charges at Falkirk Sheriff Court.

The court heard that he had traveled to meet what he thought was a 14-year-old girl, with the intention of sexual contact.

In November 2018, Novikov appeared before Falkirk Sheriff Court, where he was sentenced to a Community Payback Order and was placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

The court also emphasized the seriousness of his actions and the potential harm caused to the reputation of the care profession.

It was noted that Novikov failed to inform the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) of his arrest and did not engage with the regulatory process.

Last month, during a hearing conducted by the SSSC, a panel determined that Novikov’s fitness to practice as a care worker was impaired.

The panel described his conduct as “fundamentally incompatible with the standard of behaviour expected of a registered care worker.” Despite his social worker’s reports that he had been “open and engaging,” the panel expressed concern about the risk of reoffending and highlighted that such behaviour was not easily remediable.

The panel concluded that his actions posed a real risk to public safety and that the public would be justifiably concerned about his conduct, especially given the trust placed in care workers who may have contact with children.

Overall, the case of Oleksandr Novikov underscores the ongoing issues surrounding online grooming and the importance of vigilance and strict regulation within the care profession.

His actions have not only led to criminal charges but also to professional sanctions that reflect the severity of his misconduct and the potential danger posed to vulnerable individuals in the community.
