NURUZZAMAN SHAHIN FROM LONDON SENTENCED TO 31 YEARS FOR GROOMING WOMEN THROUGH FAKE ESCORT AGENCY
In a significant case that has drawn considerable attention from law enforcement and the public alike, Nuruzzaman Shahin, a man residing in North London, has been handed a lengthy prison sentence after being convicted of multiple serious sexual offenses. The sentencing took place on Monday, January 23, at Snaresbrook Crown Court, where Shahin, aged 40 and living at North Villas, Camden, was sentenced to 31 years behind bars.
Shahin's crimes involved a disturbing pattern of grooming and sexual assault against eight women.
He was found guilty of eight counts of rape, four counts of assault by penetration, three counts of sexual assault on a female, and seven counts of controlling prostitution for gain.
As part of his punishment, he was also issued an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order, which aims to restrict his activities and prevent further harm.
The court proceedings revealed that Shahin operated a fraudulent business called ‘Soul Mates Escort Agency,’ which was active prior to his initial arrest in 2018.
His method involved exploiting online employment platforms, where he sought out women seeking work across various industries.
Shahin would establish contact with these women, enticing them with promises of lucrative earnings—up to £500 a day—if they agreed to work as escorts.
To facilitate his scheme, Shahin arranged face-to-face interviews at a residential property located in North London.
During these interviews and subsequent interactions, he committed numerous sexual offenses, including rape and other serious sexual assaults.
The court heard that his actions were part of a calculated effort to control and exploit vulnerable women under the guise of legitimate employment.
Shahin’s criminal case experienced a complex legal journey.
After his initial arrest in 2018, authorities decided not to pursue further action in 2019 due to what was deemed insufficient evidence at the time.
However, as more women came forward with their accounts, law enforcement re-evaluated the case.
Shahin was re-arrested in 2021, and after an extensive eight-week trial, he was found guilty on December 1 of the previous year.
His sentencing followed shortly thereafter.
The Metropolitan Police have issued a call to action, encouraging any other women who may have been harmed by Shahin to come forward and seek support.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and the need for victims to report abuse, ensuring that perpetrators are held accountable for their actions.
