March 2012 Rise in number of rape victims aged under 13 in North Lincolnshire There has been an increase in the number of under-13s in North Lincolnshire who have reported being raped.

The region’s Family Protection Unit is stressing its focus is to continue to support and encourage victims to come forward Results from a Freedom of Information request show that last year there were 20 rape victims under the age of 13 whose cases were being dealt with by Humberside Police.

267 sexual offences were recorded in 2009.

These figures dropped to 197 in 2010 and last year rose to 227.
