A man named Noamaan Mirza, aged 35, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison after being found guilty of multiple severe sexual offences. He conducted a lengthy series of abuses against a young person, which authorities described as ongoing and involving numerous incidents of rape and sexual assault.
Mirza started grooming his victim as early as 2004, using gifts like toys and fast food to earn trust and control over the young person.
Police investigations uncovered that Mirza advised the victim that their story would not be believed if reported, and he forced the victim to watch pornographic content.
Following a trial, Mirza was convicted on four counts of rape, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of coercing a child into sexual acts, and two counts of exposing a child to sexual images.
During the sentencing, Detective Sergeant Jennifer Savazzi called Mirza “a manipulative individual,” pointing out that his actions left the victim with lifelong psychological scars.
The judge observed that Mirza showed no remorse and condemned his actions as “a deplorable campaign of sexual abuse,” which caused significant mental harm.
Authorities expressed satisfaction with the comprehensive investigation and the victim’s courage in coming forward.
The case demonstrated the severity and longevity of the abuse, which happened over several years across different locations.
