NIGEL WORSTER SENTENCED IN WEYMOUTH SEX ABUSE CASE: SHOCKING CRIME AT TOWN CENTRE HOME

In a disturbing case that has sent shockwaves through the community of Weymouth, Nigel Christopher Worster, aged 52, has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison following his conviction for serious sexual offences involving a 14-year-old girl.

The offences occurred at the victim’s home in Weymouth’s town centre on November 22 of the previous year, a day that has left a lasting impact on all involved.

According to court proceedings, Worster had gone to the girl’s residence to offer comfort after she received an upsetting phone call from a withheld number.

The situation took a sinister turn when Worster, without any prior consent or warning, laid down on the girl’s bed and proceeded to sexually assault her.

The young victim, overwhelmed and distressed, began crying as Worster continued his assault until he fled the scene.

The girl, deeply affected by the incident, confided in her parents, sending a text message to her father describing what had happened.

Her father, who was not at home at the time, returned to find her visibly upset and crying.

When he asked her what was wrong, she revealed the assault, and by that time, Worster had already left the premises.

Following the incident, Worster did not attempt to evade justice.

Instead, he later flagged down a police vehicle to surrender himself, an act that ultimately led to his arrest and subsequent court appearance.

During the trial at Dorchester Crown Court, the prosecution, led by Jason Spellman, detailed the disturbing nature of the offences.

Worster admitted to causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, along with two additional charges of sexual activity with a minor.

The court heard that Worster’s actions were particularly heinous given the victim’s age and the trust placed in him as an adult.

The girl, who has chosen to remain anonymous for legal reasons, has since become an advocate for others who have suffered similar abuse.

She has publicly urged other victims to speak out, emphasizing that they are not alone and that there is help available.

She has even established an online discussion group on social media, aimed at providing a safe space for victims to share their experiences and seek support.

The girl explained, “I’ve created an online group for anybody that’s been assaulted.

I’ve been through it so I know what they are going through.

They can go on there if they want to talk about it, to say what they are going through instead of bottling it all up.

They can let it out.

I want to show everybody I’m not afraid.” She also encouraged victims who might find it difficult to speak with their parents to seek help from local advice centers such as Waves in Weymouth.

Her courage and resilience have been praised by her family, although her parents expressed their anger and disappointment over the leniency of Worster’s sentence.

Her father stated, “I was disgusted with what he’s got.

It’s not very long.

He’ll only do half of that.” He also revealed that he had warned Worster over the phone before Worster turned himself in, saying, “I told him: ‘You had better hand yourself in before I find you’.

If my daughter had not been strong enough to tell me, he could be trying to get away with it again.

She is a very strong-willed person but this took the strength right out of her.” The girl’s mother reflected on the emotional toll the incident has taken on her daughter, noting that she has lost her once cheerful and outgoing personality.

“She was a happy-go-lucky girl who would go out with her friends before.

But he has robbed her of that,” she said.

Despite the pain and anger, her family supports her decision to help others by sharing her story and creating the online support network.

Her father emphasized the importance of her actions, saying, “Even if she saves one person from abuse or helps one person to say: ‘Yes, I’m being abused’ or ‘I was abused,’ it’s worth it.” Worster’s sentencing marks a significant moment in the ongoing fight against child sexual abuse in Weymouth, highlighting the importance of vigilance, support for victims, and the need for justice to be served in cases of such grave misconduct.
