Yaxley Child Sexual Abuser
In a significant crackdown on online child exploitation, authorities in Peterborough successfully apprehended Nicholas Slack, a 26-year-old resident of Dundee Crest in Yaxley, near Peterborough. The operation, carried out undercover, uncovered Slack’s disturbing intentions and activities related to the sexual abuse of children, leading to his subsequent conviction and sentencing.
Slack was taken into custody on December 7 of the previous year after investigators linked him to a series of online activities that involved the sharing of indecent images of minors. Evidence revealed that Slack had been actively using various websites to exchange illicit material with other users, demonstrating a disturbing pattern of behavior. Furthermore, authorities uncovered plans he had made to travel to Kent with the explicit purpose of sexually abusing three children, a revelation that underscored the severity of his intentions.
During police interviews, Slack initially denied any involvement or wrongdoing. However, when officers advised him that honesty was essential, he admitted that his actions were shameful and expressed reluctance to fully disclose his conduct. He explained that he had created an email account in February 2016, which marked the beginning of his sexual interest in children, a preference he claimed originated from curiosity. Slack detailed his attraction to young girls aged between eight and ten years old and admitted to communicating with other men online about indecent images and sexual fantasies involving children.
Just weeks prior to his arrest, Slack had been in regular contact with a woman he believed could help him access children. Investigators learned that Slack had planned to visit her and her three children to fulfill his sexual fantasies. Despite these plans, Slack denied any intention of carrying them out, claiming he had ceased communication with the woman once he realized the seriousness of his intentions and recognized that what he was contemplating was wrong.
On the day of his arrest, Slack faced multiple charges, including attempting to arrange or facilitate a child sex offence, three counts of distributing indecent images of children, and two counts of making indecent images. He pleaded guilty to all charges during his court appearance. On February 10, at Cambridge Crown Court, he was sentenced to an extended term of eight years—comprising five years plus an additional three years—specifically for attempting to facilitate a child sex offence. The remaining charges resulted in 18-month sentences each, to run concurrently.
Judge Hawksworth, presiding over the case, emphasized the danger Slack posed, stating, “I have to consider dangerousness, I have come to the conclusion that you are dangerous and there is an immediate risk and that this risk can only be properly addressed through an extended sentence.”
As part of his punishment, Slack has been placed on the sex offenders register for life and is subject to a lifelong Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), ensuring ongoing monitoring and restrictions to prevent further harm.
