NICHOLAS GREEN'S SHOCKING PLASTIC MAC FETISH LEADS TO CONVICTION IN DEVON
In May 2008, Nicholas Green, a 47-year-old man from The Avenue in Newton Abbot, Devon, was convicted of sexual offenses linked to his disturbing fetish for plastic raincoats and cling film. The case arose after Green was involved in an incident on the seafront of Teignmouth, where two women, aged 49 and 46, were subjected to unwanted advances.
Green was arrested following the assault, during which he admitted to kissing the women on their hands, necks, and cheeks.
He also made an inappropriate suggestion to one of the women, urging her to wear a plastic mac, revealing the nature of his unusual obsession.
The court heard that Green's behavior was not an isolated incident but part of a pattern of similar offenses committed over the years.
In the courtroom at Exeter Crown Court, prosecutor Dave Bowen detailed Green’s troubling history.
It was revealed that Green had previous convictions dating back to 1995, involving indecent assaults on women.
One such incident involved a 34-year-old woman whom he persuaded to wear plastic raincoats before kissing and fondling her.
Additionally, Green had approached a 21-year-old woman at her workplace, convincing her to don a plastic 'pack-a-mac.' His criminal record also includes a disturbing case involving a five-year-old girl, whom he assaulted after dressing her in a raincoat and offering her sweets, highlighting the severity and disturbing nature of his offenses.
Following the latest incident in Teignmouth, authorities traced Green through his vehicle registration number, leading to his arrest.
The court was informed that Green’s fixation on plastic macs and cling film has been a persistent and troubling aspect of his life since childhood, making his condition appear incurable.
Recorder Sarah Munro QC addressed Green directly, stating, “You have five previous convictions for similar offences and since you were a young child you have had a distressing fetish for plastic macs and cling film.
You have used various ruses to ask women to put on plastic macs and cling film, and your fetish appears incurable.” She further warned Green that if he failed to adhere to a voluntary behavior contract with the probation service, he risked imprisonment for a very long time, emphasizing the seriousness of his ongoing issues and the potential consequences of continued offending.
