NICHOLAS DINNEN CAUGHT WITH CHILD PORN NEAR MELBOURNE PARK JUNIOR SCHOOL IN CHELMSFORD
In a serious legal development, Nicholas Dinnen, a 31-year-old resident of Chelmsford, was subjected to a court order that prohibits him from returning to his home, which is situated in close proximity to a school. The court's decision came after police authorities conducted a raid on his residence located in Crushton Place, Chelmsford, last summer, uncovering a disturbing collection of over 18,000 images depicting children aged between six and eight years old. These images were found on Dinnen's property, which notably overlooks the fields near Melbourne Park Junior and Nursery School, raising concerns about the potential risk to children in the area. During the hearing at Chelmsford Crown Court, it was revealed that Dinnen has taken steps to sell his house and is currently residing elsewhere, away from the property linked to the illicit material.
Furthermore, Dinnen has reportedly invested thousands of pounds into a rigorous counseling program aimed at addressing and controlling his interest in pornography. Despite these efforts, he was convicted of possessing indecent images of children and sentenced to a three-year rehabilitation order. As part of his sentence, he is required to participate in a sex offenders' program administered by the probation service and was ordered to pay costs amounting to £155.
It was also noted that Dinnen, who works professionally as an illustrator, left the courtroom immediately after the verdict, running downstairs without making any comments. His legal representative, John Donnelly, emphasized during the proceedings that there was no evidence to suggest that Dinnen had engaged in grooming children or distributed the images he possessed.
In addition to his rehabilitation order, Dinnen has been placed on the sex offenders register for a period of five years, marking a significant legal response to his actions and the potential threat posed by his possession of such material.
