May 2009 Paedophile ‘scum of the Earth’ sent to jail A PAEDOPHILE who engaged in sex acts with a girl aged under ten and broadcast them on the internet has been jailed for ten years. Even his own barrister told the court that he would be viewed in future as “scum of the Earth”. Nicholas Creane, of Stubbs Lane, Braintree, was sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court. Judge Christopher Ball QC said: “You engaged in sexual acts with a young child involving exhibitionism. “You are a very significant danger to young girls and truly meet the term paedophile.” Judge Ball imposed a six-year “extended licence” after Creane, 44, admitted oral rape, sexual activity with a child, causing a child to watch sex acts, distributing images and two offences of making indecent images. If Creane is released on licence from prison, he will remain on licence for any outstanding period of the sentence and then for the further six years for the extended period, said the judge. Creane was discovered after another man was questioned in a different investigation in another part of the country and told police he was concerned about what he had seen on the internet. Samantha Leigh, prosecuting, said the other man had “told police about what concerned him from a web-cam he’d seen in a chat room,” before going on to speak to the man on MSN. Miss Leigh said: “He was asked: ‘Do you want to come down to Braintree?’ and given details of a hotel and arrangements discussed.” Creane was arrested last June. He had already been fined £350 by Chelmsford Crown Court in May 2002 for offences involving indecent images. Alan Compton, mitigating, said: “There is no mitigation concerning the nature of the offences. “They cause abhorrence to the public. “He knows he will be viewed as the scum of the Earth.”
