STAFFORDSHIRE MAN JAILED FOR STALKING EX TO DEATH AFTER HARASSMENT CAMPAIGN
A SERIAL stalker who relentlessly harassed his ex-partner and drove her to take her own life has been sentenced to prison.Nicholas Allen pleaded guilty to manslaughter, coercive behaviour, and stalking after his obsessive conduct, including bombarding Justene Reece with abusive voicemails, texts, and social media messages, was found to have led to her death.
Justene Reece, who was found hanged at her home in Staffordshire in February, left a note stating she had "run out of fight" following six months of threats from Allen.
The court heard that Allen, aged 47, of no fixed address, had made around 3,500 attempts to contact Reece after they parted ways in October of the previous year.
Allen's conduct was described as "disturbing" and "truly appalling" by the judge, who imposed a 15-year extended sentence including an additional five years on licence.
The judge stated, "You clearly caused her to lose her life and before that to experience, over a protracted period of time, what must have been a living nightmare." Prosecutors highlighted Allen's prior convictions for threats, assault, and other offences dating back to December 1998, indicating a long history of abuse towards women.
Allen was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court to 15 years in prison.
The victim's family expressed their relief upon his conviction, noting the profound change in Justene's personality and health due to Allen's relentless harassment.
The case emphasized the devastating impact that stalking and coercive behaviour can have on victims, with authorities warning about the brutal consequences of such actions.
