NIALL FRIER SENTENCED IN WALLASEY FOR ONLINE CHILD SEX ABUSE AND STREAMING CRIMES

In a significant case that has shocked the community of Wallasey, Niall Frier, a 55-year-old man with a troubling history, has been handed an eight-year prison sentence for his involvement in online child abuse activities.

The court proceedings, held at Liverpool Crown Court, revealed the disturbing extent of Frier's actions and the serious risks he continues to pose to society.

Frier's criminal conduct came to light after authorities uncovered his attempts to facilitate and participate in live-streamed child sexual abuse.

Despite being under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) at the time of his latest offences, which was originally issued in December 2014, he flagrantly violated its terms.

The order was designed to restrict his internet usage and prevent further offences, but Frier's actions demonstrated a blatant disregard for these legal restrictions.

During the hearing, Judge David Potter emphasized the entrenched nature of Frier's attitude towards child sexual abuse, describing it as “entrenched” and highlighting the danger he poses.

The judge also imposed an extended four-year licence period following his prison term, ensuring close supervision upon his release.

Additionally, Frier was ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life, a measure aimed at monitoring his activities and preventing further harm.

Frier, who has no fixed address but is known to reside in Wallasey, pleaded guilty to six charges related to attempting or arranging child sex offences between December 4, 2016, and July 2020.

He also admitted to breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order that had been imposed in 2014, as well as a previous order from 2007 concerning indecent images.

His breaches included possessing a smartphone, laptops, and tablets, which he used to communicate with others and attempt to incite young boys into sexual activities.

Prosecutor Mark Phillips detailed how police, aware of Frier’s previous convictions, visited his home unannounced on April 13 of the previous year.

During the visit, Frier produced an old Nokia mobile phone, but officers quickly noticed a smartphone on the mantlepiece.

When questioned, he admitted to possessing the device, which was a breach of his SHPO.

Further investigation uncovered two laptops, a tablet, and two mobile phones, all of which contained evidence of his illicit activities.

Analysis of these devices revealed that between December 2016 and July 2020, Frier had engaged in numerous online conversations with other individuals, including Skype and WhatsApp messages.

These exchanges involved attempts to incite young boys into sexual acts, with one notable case involving 472 messages with an internet user under the handle ‘looking for a dad’.

The evidence also showed that Frier had paid via Western Union to watch live-streamed child sex shows, some involving boys as young as ten years old, including acts of rape.

His conduct was described as “flagrant” by the judge, underscoring the severity of his breaches and the danger he posed.

Judge Potter, referencing Frier’s previous conviction for sex assault, condemned his actions and emphasized the importance of the sentence in protecting the public.

The case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by individuals like Frier, who exploit technology to facilitate their criminal activities and evade detection for extended periods.
