NEVILLE TAYLOR FROM KILLAMARSH SENTENCED FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY AND DISTRIBUTION
In a case that has shocked the community of Killamarsh, Neville Taylor, a former milkman, has been sentenced to four years in prison after police uncovered a vast collection of indecent images of children on his personal computers. The investigation revealed that Taylor, aged 41, possessed approximately half a million illicit images, many of which were distributed across the globe, including direct transmissions to the Philippines.Authorities from Derbyshire Police conducted a thorough search of Taylor’s residence on Sheepcote Lane in Killamarsh in February. During the raid, detectives turned on his computer and immediately noticed the wallpaper displayed was an image of a naked boy in a shower, indicating the presence of child exploitation material. The police investigation uncovered that Taylor had not only stored these images but had also taken photographs of children in the street outside the pet shop where he was employed, raising serious concerns about his activities and potential threats to local children.
Detective Constable Annie Vernon of Derbyshire Police emphasized the international reach of Taylor’s actions, stating, “The pictures of those boys went around the world. We know he sent them to the Philippines himself, and they would be passed on and on.” This highlights the disturbing extent of the distribution network and the global nature of child exploitation crimes.
It was also revealed that Taylor had a criminal history, having previously been jailed at Sheffield Crown Court in 1994 for offenses that included possessing indecent photographs of children. His latest charges included 16 counts, such as inciting a child to pose for indecent images, causing a child to view pornography, possessing extreme pornography, and making, possessing, and distributing pornographic images.
During the sentencing at Derby Crown Court, Judge Jonathan Gosling addressed the severity of the crime, stating, “Once distributed these images can never be retrieved. They are always electronically available and there is nothing anyone can do about it. When the police looked at your computer, they discovered half a million images in total. That quantity rather speaks for itself.”
As part of his punishment, Taylor was banned from working with children for life and was placed on the sex offenders’ register, ensuring ongoing monitoring of his activities. The case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals involved in child exploitation and the importance of vigilant law enforcement efforts to protect vulnerable children from such heinous crimes.
