NORTHUMBERLAND MAN FACES JAIL FOR POSSESSING CHILD SEXUAL IMAGES AFTER EX'S TIP-OFF
A pervert was caught possessing obscene sexual images of children after his former partner reported him to the police.Neil Lopez had been downloading these harmful images over an eight-year span from 2015 to 2023 at his residence in Burradon.
Authorities seized his computer, revealing a collection that included four Category A images, the most severe classification involving penetrative acts, as well as three Category B and twelve Category C images, according to prosecutors.
Lopez, aged 42 and residing at Langley Court, Burradon, pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of a child.
The court was informed that his ex-partner’s suspicions prompted the police to act, leading to the seizure of his computer and the discovery of these images.
Prosecutor Rehana Haque stated: "This happened as a result of concerns raised by his ex-partner." The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report, with the possibility of Lopez being committed for sentencing.
He is currently on unconditional bail and is required to register as a sex offender.
The court is set to reconvene on June 26 at North Tyneside Magistrates’ Court for sentencing.
Lopez faces a potential prison sentence for his crimes, and the case highlights the ongoing issue of child sexual abuse and illegal image possession.
