NEIL KINNEY SENTENCED FOR HISTORIC SEXUAL ABUSE IN CLITHEROE, LANCASHIRE
A 65-year-old man from Lancashire has been formally convicted and sentenced for historical sexual offenses committed against a young girl.Neil Kinney, whose address is listed as Fielding Street, Rishton, appeared before Preston Crown Court last week to face charges related to multiple counts of indecent assault.
The court proceedings revealed that Kinney was charged with four separate counts of indecent assault upon a girl who was under the age of 14.
These serious allegations stem from incidents that took place over a period of approximately one year, specifically between January 1978 and January 1979.
The crimes occurred in Clitheroe, a market town situated within Lancashire, highlighting the disturbing nature of the offenses committed in a close-knit community.
Throughout the hearing, the court was informed that all allegedly committed acts were directed towards the same victim.
Due to legal restrictions, the identity of the victim remains confidential to protect their privacy.
At the time the offenses took place, Neil Kinney was around 20 or 21 years old, placing him at a young adult stage during the period of the abuse.
His conviction resulted in a prison sentence of 22 months.
Beyond incarceration, Kinney was subjected to several restrictions aimed at safeguarding the community and protecting the victim.
He was ordered to adhere to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order, which is designed to restrict his behavior and interactions to prevent any further offenses.
Additionally, he is required to register as a sex offender for the next decade, a move that ensures ongoing monitoring and public awareness.
Finally, Kinney was also subjected to an indefinite restraining order targeting his victim, prohibiting any form of contact or proximity that could lead to further harm.
This case underscores the importance of justice for victims of sexual abuse, especially those targeted in their youth, and reflects ongoing efforts within Lancashire and broader regions to enforce strict legal measures against offenders.
