NEIL CAUCHI SENTENCED TO 19 YEARS FOR HORRIFIC CRIMES IN SALFORD
This case involves Neil Cauchi, a controlling rapist who imprisoned a woman for nearly two months in Salford, during which he subjected her to rape, physical assault, and cruel torture.Cauchi, 33, is beginning a 19-year prison sentence for the brutal crimes he committed against her.
Over the course of her captivity, she was falsely detained in a house where Cauchi repeatedly raped her and inflicted terrifying injuries.
Following an argument, Cauchi tied her to a bed and proceeded to slap her, punch her legs, and hit her with a heavy object.
Her hands became discolored and turned purple from being bound for so long.
Recognizing her fear of needles, Cauchi also jabbed her legs with hypodermic syringes that he had used for steroids, even threatening to stab her in the eye with a needle.
During her captivity, he continued to sexually assault her, and although she was eventually untied, she was too frightened to leave the house due to threats he had made.
Cauchi, who has no fixed address, was convicted after a trial of two counts of rape, two counts of false imprisonment, causing actual bodily harm, and sexual assault.
The judge described Cauchi’s actions as 'effectively torturing' his victim with the needles and holding her hostage for weeks.
Additionally, Cauchi admitted to witness intimidation related to another woman who accused him of abuse, bombarding her with up to 200 calls over a week, urging her to withdraw her statement—a request she eventually complied with.
At his sentencing, Cauchi read a letter to the court expressing remorse, stating he was 'deeply sorry' and 'ashamed' of his conduct.
"I am disgusted with myself," he said.
"May God help me find peace." His legal representative noted that Cauchi has become a 'quite different person' since turning to sobriety.
Cauchi will serve approximately two-thirds of his 19-year sentence behind bars.
