NATHANIEL HYDE SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS FOR GROOMING AND RAPE NEAR BRIDGWATER STATION

A man identified as Nathaniel Hyde has been sentenced to six years in prison following his conviction for grooming and sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.

The incident took place in Bridgwater, where Hyde, aged 28 at the time, committed the offences in his flat located near Bridgwater station.

According to court proceedings, Hyde had initiated contact with the young girl through online platforms when she was only 11 years old.

The relationship escalated after she skipped school, leading to their meeting in person.

Over the course of two days, Hyde assaulted the girl during three separate encounters, causing significant concern for her safety and well-being.

During the trial, Hyde denied the allegations, claiming he was unaware that the girl was underage at the time of the offences.

Despite his denial, the court found sufficient evidence to convict him on three counts of rape.

The judge, David Ticehurst, emphasized the seriousness of the case, particularly noting Hyde’s grooming behaviour and the vulnerability of the young girl involved.

In addition to the prison sentence, Judge Ticehurst imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order against Hyde.

This order aims to prevent any future offences and protect the community from potential harm.

The court’s decision underscores the importance of safeguarding minors from predatory behaviour and highlights the dangers of online grooming and exploitation.
