--------------------------- 2022-06-16 00:01: In a disturbing case that has shocked the community of Southend, Nathaniel Humphreys, a 27-year-old resident of Surbiton Avenue, was found to have engaged in highly inappropriate and illegal online activities involving underage girls.
Over a period of several months, Humphreys participated in explicit sexual conversations with young girls, some as young as 13 and 14 years old, during which he requested nude images from his victims.
These conversations revealed a disturbing pattern of predatory behavior driven by unhealthy urges towards minors.
Authorities acted on intelligence received about Humphreys’s online activities in July 2019.
A police raid was conducted at his residence, where electronic devices were seized for investigation.

The prosecutor described Humphreys’s behavior as indicative of “unhealthy urges towards young girls.” Judge Samantha Cohen, presiding over the case, condemned Humphreys’s actions as “highly sexualized conversations” and called his requests for nude images “outrageous behavior.” She acknowledged that Humphreys was suffering from mental health issues, although he had yet to receive an official diagnosis.
The judge emphasized the seriousness of the case, stating, “These were highly sexualized conversations and you asked for naked images of them, this is outrageous behaviour.” Humphreys pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including two counts of attempting to incite a girl to engage in sexual activity, two counts of making indecent photographs of a child, and possession of prohibited images.
In sentencing, Judge Cohen imposed a three-year community order, which requires Humphreys to complete a sex offending rehabilitation program and undertake 50 days of additional rehabilitation activities.
Additionally, he was fined £500 and will be required to register as a sex offender for five years.
